Russ Rollins began his radio career in 1993 by purchasing an hour of time on a small AM signal in Orlando.  The show was called “Party Talk with Russ and Bo” and was used to promote Russ’ party business and hopefully drive up rentals on moon jumpers and dunk tanks.  They quickly realized that they got a lot more calls and attention talking about women and beer than they did about what to rent for your child’s birthday party.

Today he has taken The Monsters from AM to FM, from 3 part time players to a full time cast of 7 and from one hour of air time to one of the highest rated morning shows in Central Florida and now broadcasting live daily on XM Radio.

“What Russ has done with the Monsters down in Florida has been a nationally recognized success story,” says Michael Harrison, publisher of Talkers Magazine.  For the fifth year in a row, the magazine recently named Rollins one of the “Heavy Hundred” in talk radio.

In the end Russ says, “I’m not really about the money.  I just want people to say 'You know what?  That Russ Rollins, he left his mark on radio.' But don’t worry, you can get that off with a little soap and water.”

Russ, you're killing me!
I can't tell you how much I hate those stupid Tahitian Village commercials. It's supposed to sound like you're actually having a conversation with Roseanne Barr or whatever celebrity, but it is so blatantly obvious that you're not. It's insulting my intelligence! I know that it's money in your pocket and also Clear Channel's, but I actually turn the station when I hear it.
Love you guys anyway!
Renee

I did it that way on purpose. Can't you tell the laugh in the middle of the spot is as fake as it gets?

I'm paid to read spots like that, I'm in radio.  Everytime you hear me do that spot just think "Ole RRR just filled up a tank of gas in his car!"

Prom Night!
Thursday 08-21-2008 5:00am ET

If you listen to the show on a regular basis you know Kate and I like to watch a lot of movies. I thought I might as well rate the movies so you know what movies are good and what movies are not so good.

Today we watched "PROM NIGHT"!

Starring Brittany Snow as a teenage girl going to her Prom. Little does she know she's being followed by the obsessed murderer that killed her entire family three years ago! Who will survive the killer's rampage??!!

No boobies, not much blood and gore, kind of easy to figure out.

It was a good stupid movie. For curling up on the couch with your woman and killing time.........  I give it:

Two and a half Sammiches, out of five!

Kate gives "Prom Night":

Three Hello Kitty's, out of five!!

Double feature - The Hammer
Wednesday 08-20-2008 8:22pm ET
It was a double feature day for Kate and I. The second movie we watched was "The Hammer" with Adam Carolla.

It was really hard to buy him as a boxer that's fighting his way to the Olympics at the age of forty. He is funny at times, I'd say every tenth joke made me giggle a little bit.

Adam was the star of the film, he wrote it and he produced it. I was impressed with all the work a radio guy put into a film. I really think that was cool....

It was not the worst movie I ever saw, it did not bore me, it made me laugh.............

I have to give "The Hammer":

One and a half Sammiches! (out of five)

Kate only gives this movie:

A half a Hello Kitty, she hated it.

Sorry Adam. I wanted to like it more, I just couldn't.
Happy Birthday Nanny!

Here is a little personal stuff.... something that means a lot to me, but may not mean anything to listeners. But hell, it's my web site so I should post what I wish....... Here it goes....

Kate and I went to dinner with my family to celebrate my Nanny's 87th birthday.

I love my Nanny very much, she is a wonderful woman.

Nanny never passes judgment on people and has always been a loving woman. She is a church going woman but she doesn't beat you over the head with it.

Here's my Nanny with my sister (Karla) and her baby boy Ziegh. (Z)

He's a really cute kid and he seems to really like his Uncle Russ.

Me and my son Ryan. He's a lot like his dad. Poor kid.

My Nanny is always dressed very sharp and she has a wonderful sense of humor.

Happy 87th Birthday Nanny!  We love you!

Russ,

It’s me, Michael van Gelder. We went to Edgewater together. The Long Haired guy.

Anyway,

I was hired to photograph the Rock N Roll Fantasy Camp last week and saw that Tiffany was paired up with Kip Winger and Mark Hudson.

So, I made sure to take some pictures for you to share with the fans. ( Just give me photo credit. )

Use the images in anyway shape or form you feel you need.

I must say that I was very surprised at Tiffany’s shyness at first. I know she felt way out in left field not knowing any of these incredible artists.

But I Think she learned a great deal from these people. She practiced long and hard to songs and arrangements she was not familiar with.

When it came to show time, she really opened up on stage.

She definitely stole the show with Kip Winger. (He was VERY happy to be working with her.)

I understand you were at the show with Kate. I’m real sorry I missed you. Give my best to Kate.

Enjoy!

Best Wishes & Much Success,

Thanks Michael! You took great photos of Tiffany and Kip Winger. Thanks for taking time to send them to me.

I still remember you in High School, on stage with your band rockin out to "You got another thing comin" by Judas Priest. You guys did the song much better! Thanks Dude!

Russ,

For a delicious tasty sandwich which one of these would you do:

1. Water ski with drunky driving his boat. (while he consumes mutiple cold beverages)
2. Be a passenger in Tiffany's car while she was driving on I4 and applying makeup.
3. Be a passenger on Daniels Scooter while he was on his iphone going down Park avenue at 40 mph.
4. Ride with Bubba after he stopped at Taste-Freeze for a giant swirl cone.
5. Listen to Dirty Jim while he explains the game of Texas Holdem to you for 2 hours.
6. Listen to Tuddle bitch and complain about his lack of airtime for 3 hours.

Just Wondering,

Tony

I would have to be a passenger in Tiffany's car while she put on make up. I don't think she takes that long to throw it on her face! (That was joke Tiff,)

Hey Russ,
I am a long time listener and was wondering what has happen to the Monster Dance Squad?  I don't hear you talk about them or have not heard any of the girls call in any more.  I was just wondering if they disbanded or if it just got old?

I will be 100% honest with you. I was not thrilled with the costumes and the turn out at Miss Monster. We only had 5 girls but the girls we had kicked ass.

I hope to have the "Monster Dance Squad" perform at an upcoming event and I hope that will get me excited again.

To be fair, the Dance Squad has put a lot of time into performing and they have not gotten a lot out of it. I'm working on something that I think will make the Dance Squad happy and get them the attention they deserve.

It's a work in progress, I've not given up just yet!

Look at the letter I got!
