HUGE Nerd News!
Wednesday 08-20-2008 12:52pm ET
There is a Doctor Who fan convention coming to Orlando on October 30 - November 1, 2009!

It's called Hurricane Who. The website is already up & you can purchase tickets there...

http://www.hurricanewho.com/

I've talked to the guy putting this together & I'm excited to tell you that this is going to be BIG!

On a related note, if you heard the Philips Phile last night then you know I'm planning to be the tenth Doctor for Halloween. I'm looking for someone who can make the Doctor's famous suit (pictured above) or a place where I can purchase it. I've already found a tailor in London, but he wants $500 for it! That's a bit much for a Halloween costume. If you have any ideas or info please send me an email.

Thanks!

And of course I will keep you updated on ALL of the news on Hurricane Who.

Late Edition of the Nerd News, by Kristin
Thursday 08-07-2008 7:06pm ET
I would never think to hi-jack my husband's site to post something, but I feel I have no other choice! <wink>

I have been telling Tudds for weeks that he needed to write an edition of the Nerd News on the new Fox show "Fringe".

When he posted his latest edition, without any mention of it, I felt I had to post my own to fill you in on this show.

It's a new sci-fi series from J.J. Abrams ("Lost"). But don't worry... Abrams has already said this show's storyline (thankfully!) will not be nearly as obscure or complex as "Lost".

Abrams recently admitted part of his inspiration for "Fringe" came from "The X-Files", which is still one of my favorite shows!

If you haven't heard of this show yet, you have to watch this trailer:

Oh My God! I cannot wait for this show. It does have an X-Files feel to it... don't you think?

And YES! that was Joshua Jackson. I LOVE him!

It's been too long since he's been in my house once a week! Now I can give my "Dawson's Creek" DVDs a rest & return "Shutter" to Blockbuster.

Here's a bonus vid of JJ talking about his "Fringe" character:

Tune in to Fox on September 9th at 8 p.m. for the 2-hour premiere.

Oh, and sorry babe for hi-jacking your site. Love you!

More Nerd News...
Thursday 08-07-2008 11:40am ET
I guess this is officially the second edition of the Nerd News.

I wish I had more news to report. Still more rumors than news on the new seasons of Doctor Who & Torchwood. Is Captain Jack really the Face of Boe???

But I am very excited about the premiere of Primeval on BBC America this Saturday night at 9pm.

I grabbed this from the BBCA website to give you some info on the show:

When evolutionary zoologist Nick Cutter (Douglas Henshall) discovers prehistoric creatures alive and well in the present-day, the natural world is turned on its head, and humanity faces a threat to its very existence. Unexplained anomalies are ripping holes in the fabric of time, allowing creatures from the very earliest stages of Earth's development to roam the modern world.

While Cutter and his team struggle to keep the looming disaster under wraps, Cutter also has to deal the fact that his wife, Helen, a fellow scientist who disappeared eight years ago, is not dead as he believed. In fact, she's been traveling through time. However, now she's back, and she holds the key to the riddle of the anomalies. But is it something she's willing to share? If not, what does she really want? Why did she come back?

Cutter, his research assistant Stephen Hart, zoologist Abby Maitland, and student paleontologist Connor Temple race to understand what's happening, while government bureaucrats James Lester and Claudia Brown insist they have to keep the danger secret from the public. As the past threatens to invade the present and destroy the future, Cutter's crew faces a life-and-death race against time.

Sounds awesome, right? Don't miss it! Saturday at 9pm. Set your DVR.

Thanks for all of the emails on the first edition of the Nerd News! I have really enjoyed talking to everyone about Doctor Who & Torchwood. Keep writing!

Allons-y!
